The 2021-2022 Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will open for completion Thursday, October 1, 2020! Students and parents that possess a valid Social Security Number must visit https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm to create an FSA ID prior to FAFSA completion. This is the only site for FSA ID creation.
Students must complete the 2021-2022 FAFSA online at www.fafsa.gov by 11:00 PM on March 1, 2021 in order to remain eligible for TN Promise. Students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible as some scholarships are first-come, first-served!
Visit https://www.collegefortn.org/fafsahelp/ and watch the short FAFSA walkthrough videos.
TNFAFSAFrenzy.gov: This website includes our TN FAFSA Frenzy Toolkit, which provides important information about the FAFSA, best practices, and helpful templates to help make your FAFSA efforts successful. Starting in mid-November, TNFAFSAFrenzy.gov will include a data dashboard that will allow school staff to monitor their FAFSA data compared to last year and other schools across Tennessee.

- Direct Student FAFSA Assistance: This year we are providing three new ways students and families can receive direct assistance with completing the FAFSA:
- Watch Our “How to Complete a FAFSA“ Videos. These quick videos walk students through each step of completing a FAFSA. Videos can be accessed on YouTube here.
- Attend a Live Virtual Workshop. We offer two virtual workshops every week where a Tennessee FAFSA expert walks students through completing the FAFSA. Students can register for a workshop here.
- Contact Us. If students need additional assistance completing the FAFSA, they can reach out to our FAFSA experts at FAFSA.Help@tn.gov. We have staff standing by to help. In the coming weeks, we plan to launch a FAFSA hotline to provide a direct point of contact for students and their families to receive FAFSA help.
